Rev. Dana Norton
Dana Grissett Norton was born in Lake Charles, LA, and graduated from South Garland High School in 1975. Called to ordained ministry at a young age, Rev. Norton responded to God’s true calling on her life after various side trips in her life journey.
Rev. Norton received a Bachelor of Science from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M at Commerce) with a double major in Special Education and Elementary Education in 1975. In 1997 she completed a Master of Science at University of North Texas in Clinical Psychology and worked in the mental health field in the nonprofit sector for a number of years. She received her Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University in 2006.
While in seminary, Rev. Norton, who is a cradle Methodist, served as the Director of Christian Education at a Presbyterian Church absorbing a greater understanding of the nuances of denominational differences among Christian groups.
Rev. Norton was appointed Associate Pastor of Plymouth Park United Methodist Church in June 2006 when she graduated with the Master of Divinity degree. At PPUMC, she is responsible for Adult Ministries and participates in most areas of church leadership, worship, and pastoral care.
Rev. Norton has served on the Child Abuse Prevention Coalition and the Dallas County Community Planning Committee. Her volunteer work has included jail ministry, hospital visitation ministry, Assistant Spiritual Director on Walk to Emmaus, and work with children and youth in a variety of settings.
Rev. Norton is married to Andrew (Andy) Norton who is currently a teacher at Wesleyan Academe, the private school at PPUMC. They have two young children, Naomi and Anna who both attend Wesleyan Academe.
