Adult Classes

You’re invited to find a place of belonging in a Sunday morning Bible Study or a support group! Come discover the gifts that God has given you that bring meaning, purpose and direction to life. Continue your spiritual journey as we grow closer to Christ and one another.

Our classes are a prime opportunity to learn about the Christian faith and to develop relationships in a supportive community. We currently offer 10 adult Sunday school classes, each with its own unique blend of study topics, age ranges and family status. New classes begin periodically to meet the developing needs of our congregation. Whether you are interested in Bible teaching or discussion with others who are single or married, there is a place for you here at Plymouth Park United Methodist Church!

Sunday School for 20’s & 30’s

Room 109, 10:15 a.m.

Have you noticed the new Sunday School class in room 109? Name: Viginti Triginta (Latin meaning Twenty Thirty). Some are married, some are engaged, singles are welcomed. Most have young children or even a few newborns. If this describes you and you are interested in building lifelong relationships with others as you journey together in Christian fellowship and study, come to room 109 on Sunday mornings at 10:15 a.m. You will be just down the hall from your little ones….or if it’s just too much to ask for you to leave that newborn in the nursery….bring them with you as we grow together in what it means to be a supportive community.

ABC, a.k.a. Adult Bible Class

Room A-115, 10:15 a.m.

We focus on quarterly studies of various books of the Bible. Class volunteers lead weekly small group discussions. Snacks, juice and take-home study materials, which include daily Bible readings, are provided for guests and members, who are primarily 40-50ish and older.

Cornerstone

Room A-107, 9:45 a.m.

We study the bible through class discussions of the scripture, its historical context and the applications to our daily lives. We are a group of singles and married couples with and without children. We share fellowship starting at 9:45 a.m. with scripture study beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Exploring the Scriptures

Room A-102, 9:45 a.m.

We study the bible using multiple translations in a teacher-led discussion forum. The teacher or members of the class read the scripture and consider, discuss and even debate its meaning for the time it was written and for our lives today. It is good to attend with your own study bible but if you do not bring a Bible we have several extras that can be borrowed in the classroom. Class ages range from early 40s to early 80s but everyone is young at heart and welcoming.

Friendly Class

Room A-104, 9:45 a.m.

Koinonia

Room A-113, 9:45 a.m.

Our class is composed of both couples and singles in the prime of their lives (that means fifty-ish!). Most of us (but not all) have children who have graduated from college, married and, in some cases, have children of their own. The class is discussion-oriented, and we have a variety of teachers who lead the class on diverse topics—from Bible study to social issues. We invite visitors to join us for coffee and discussion.

Namaste

Room A-108, 9:35 a.m.

As always visitors are welcome! To us, Namaste means “We accept you as you are.” Meet for coffee and visitation at 9:30 a.m. We have a short business meeting at 9:45 a.m. This group of seniors continues to support one another through life transitions. Please, come join us for interesting programs, discussions and fellowship.
