Sign Up for the Fall Retreat at RiverBend Retreat Center
It’s time for our annual fall retreat! We’re going to the RiverBend Retreat Center in the Glen Rose area, Saturday through Monday, October 11-13, 2014. This is Columbus Day weekend, so everyone has Monday off (except for Dallas ISD). We’ll leave Saturday morning and arrive in time for lunch, and return on Monday before noon.
The deadline to register and pay for the Fall Retreat has been extended until this Wednesday, October 1, 2014.
We are currently at 35 people. We have 2 spots left for females and 3 for males.
Please complete this Release Form or you may pick up one in the Youth Hall.

Every superhero has a weakness. Superman has kryptonite. The Hulk can both destroy and be destroyed by his anger. Batman can't save Gotham City until he gets over his fear. Green Lantern has his power ring that can do just about anything to anything, unless the thing was yellow. Then he is powerless.
Just about every hero has a fatal flaw. In the same way, each of us have our own vulnerabilities. Because of the way that we are wired, the devil knows that in order to destroy your soul he needs to attack you where you are most vulnerable. The devil tempts us strategically where he thinks he can win.
We’re starting a fun new series this month in Student Outreach called “What’s your Kryptonite?” This week’s topic is pride. Madeline Harris will be giving the message.
Sunday School begins at 10:15 am immediately following P3. We gather in the main room for a quick breakfast before splitting into grade level classes. The breakfast is provided by parents each week on a rotation schedule.
The Martin family is in charge of breakfast this week, October 5, 2014.
October Mission Project
Thanks to all of you that donated blankets and towels for the Humane Society. This month’s project is College Care packages. We have 26 college students – 5 of whom are freshmen - who are living in dorms or apartments away from home. We collect items throughout the month of October, pack up the boxes and mail them November 3, 2014.
Students love to receive anything in the mail, but especially a care package that was put together to show how much that student is loved and missed by their church.
Here are some suggestions for items for care packages: Easy Mac, granola/cereal bars, microwave popcorn, Ramen noodles, candy/gum, instant oatmeal, hot chocolate/cider packets, cookies, crackers, dried fruit, sticky notes, highlighters, mechanical pencils/pens, anti-bacterial lotion, Tylenol, cold medicine and cough drops.
Don’t feel like you have to bring 26 of anything. Anything will be appreciated. You can find a box in the Youth Hall or in the Ministry Center.
