Happy Monday! I hope that everyone had a great Spring Break and that you all are rested and ready for the next 12 weeks of the school year. We’re on the downhill slide now!
Join us on Wednesday this week after what seems like a loooong two week break!
This month’s theme is “Instagram my Life”. Jealousy – or “coveting” as the Bible sometimes calls it – has been around for a long time. Way before Instagram, the Bible addressed this emotion of our hearts. It warned us about looking at other people’s stuff – their iPhone, their car, their girlfriend, their life – and warns us to make sure we are satisfied with what God has given us. Never before have so many had so much while still wanting more. In order to go head to head with jealousy we need to become more like Jesus and less like ourselves. We need to stop wanting and ogling what everyone else posts through Instagram.
That’s not me, you say, I’m not on Instagram. But it’s not just Instagram – it’s all form of social media. Social media is excellent for advertising yourself and communicating with others over long distances, but it should not be confused as a replacement for friendships or human contact.
There is growing evidence that the time spent on social media may actually be making us unhappier. Join us this month as we face that very unpopular viewpoint.
Rebecca Bullard is giving the message this week.
Join us for Sunday school about 9:45 am Sunday mornings in the Youth Hall. Kids begin gathering at 9:45 for a light breakfast. Classes start about 10:15, or immediately following P3.
The Hart family is in charge of breakfast this week, March 23.
See you at the church!
