Happy Tuesday! I trust that everyone had a safe and relaxing Labor Day weekend. Fall is finally upon us, with all of its activities – even if the thermometer doesn't quite know it.
We began Student Outreach last week with a bang! We have 6 new Family Groups with a few new adults, a new Youth Band, new games, activities and new monthly themes.
This month’s theme is “Back to School”. . . new friends, old friends, nice teachers, scary teachers, new lunch options in the cafeteria, uniforms and a brand new list of classes. Back-to-school inevitably comes along each year. Some love it, others hate it or perhaps you just go through the motions indifferently. Regardless of how it makes you feel you have to go, so how will you make the most of it? How will you make this year at school worthwhile?
As another year starts and the weekly cycle begins again, make a difference! Be bold and stand out for Jesus. Don’t waste the time you have now and the opportunities that come at school. Members of our Youth Group represent over 30 different campuses! Whether you are in 6th Grade or 12th, at a public school, private school, Christian school or secular school, Jesus has sent us out to make disciples of all people. So why don’t you start now?!
Last week we talked about putting on the Armor of God. This week we’re exploring where we fit in in the Body of Christ. We are all uniquely gifted. If all Christians were exactly the same they wouldn’t be the body of Christ, they would just be the body “part” of Christ. Many teenagers think to live for Christ means to look like everyone else (and many adults think that the teenagers should look just like them) but God has a much more wonderfully diverse plan in store for us.
The Youth Hall opens at 6 pm for hanging out, playing pool or ping pong. Dinner begins at 5:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall or you may bring food with you and hang out with your friends before we get started at 7 pm.
The goal is to be finished at 8:30 pm. You may wait for your youth outside or come inside to pick them up.
Note to all of you that have been playing in the Activity Hall before Youth Group! There will be Children’s Activities from 6-7 pm in the Activity Room each Wednesday night. The space will be now be off-limits to youth.
Be sure to join us this Sunday at 10 am for Sunday School. Class begins at 10:15 am immediately following P3.
We gather in the main room for breakfast before splitting into grade level classes. The breakfast is provided by parents each week on a rotation schedule.
We start a new breakfast schedule this week that will take us through the end of the year. Not everyone is on it! Please check for your name and mark your calendar. I’ll send you a text or email in the days prior to Sunday as a reminder. If you cannot be here on your Sunday, feel free to switch with another parent, or just let me know. The Hardesty family is in charge of breakfast this week, Sept 7.
I am still searching for a substitute teacher for the 9th and 10th grade Sunday School Class.
