Youth Group to hold Bake Sale and Silent Auction on Sunday

To raise $500 for the Easter radio spots, the Youth Group is holding a Bake Sale and Silent Auction on Sunday in the Ministries Center. A variety of Valentine treats (low calorie and otherwise!) will be available. The silent auction features services offered by the youth including babysitting, yard work and guitar lessons. Please come by and support the youth in this important endeavor.

Prayer Valentines given out today!

For several years, Plymouth Park UMC has distributed Prayer Valentines during the worship services prior to February 14. Each child in our church, infant through Fifth Grade, has a valentine with his or her name on it. Starting with Valentine’s Day, adults (and even children) in the church will be encouraged to pray for these children in our church each day until Easter. No other action is required of those receiving Prayer Valentines except prayer!

This year the hearts will be distributed throughout the worship services on Sunday, February 10. Please plan to take a valentine and pray for children in our church through Easter. Only God knows the impact this will have on our children and on our church, because this will strictly be between those who pray and God!  We do know both you and the children will be richly blessed through this PPUMC tradition.

Young at Heart Has a New Look

Young at Heart isn’t just the same old thing anymore. If cards and dominos are your thing, you’ll still find friends for gaming. But you’ll also find opportunities for crafts and to serve our homebound. 2008 sees Craft Corner added to our monthly Young at Heart gatherings. If you like to do crafts and think you’re any good at it or not, you’ll find great crafts where we can all make cards and gifts for our homebound members. In January we created Valentine cards that few of us knew that we had in us to create! February will find cards and candy baskets. Still not your thing? Persons willing to address and sign cards, prepare gifts for delivery and to make those deliveries are always needed. Perhaps providing transportation for a member who would like to attend but no longer drives is the ministry for you. After gaming and crafting, we still share a light meal and the stories of our lives together.

Young at Heart is not just about being served---it’s about serving others. Join us February 21 at 10:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall and find out what the new excitement is about!

These are paid positions and require a background check prior to hiring.

New for Kids Club!

3rd -5th graders begin a new program in 2008 for the 7-7:45pm time slot

Kids need to learn the Truth to live it—and week after week you’ll see your children open their Bibles…experience God’s Word…and grow in their faith. Centered on the award-winning Hands-On Bible®, Group's Bible Blitz™ sharpens your kids' Bible skills because each week they open their Bibles and experience God's Word—firsthand. Your kids will enjoy Bible learning and grow close to God, causing their actions and worship to become a natural outflow of their lives. Large-group enthusiasm and small-group relationships-you get both along with lively skits, top-notch worship videos, creative activities, and fun games.

Are you a Thoughtful Christian?

Come and check out the CrossRoads class as we begin a series of topical studies during the Sunday School hour that really hit you where you live. We’ll ask questions like: “Is God in the Workplace?” and “Reality TV: Love It? Hate It? Got to Have It?” and we’ll explore issues like Friendship and God’s Call. Rev. Heather Brewer will be facilitating the dialogue, but the class is all you. Starting February 17th, get your minds and hearts working so your Sunday experience can last all week. Questions? Call Rev. Heather Brewer at 972-255-4185 or e-mail heather@ppumc.org.

Making Love Last A Lifetime-Biblical Perspectives on Love, Marriage, and Sex, is an eight week, video-based small group study and outreach program that explores all these aspects of being in relationship. Its purpose is twofold: to help participants understand God’s plan and purpose for love relationships between men and women and the covenant of marriage, and to offer real help and hope for achieving the kind of relationship God intends for every couple. The course runs from 4:30pm-6:30pm Sunday evenings, beginning February 10th and running through April 6th, not including Easter Sunday. Childcare will be provided.
