SAGER BROWN ADULT MISSION TRIP September 15-20, 2019 Ages 18+, $300

Next fall we will make our fourth adult mission trip to Sager-Brown Depot in Baldwin, LA.

Sager-Brown is a large warehouse operated by the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Supplies are gathered there from all across the country, sorted, and packed by volunteers into various kinds of kits that can be distributed to victims of natural disasters all over the world. It is a vital ministry that allows us to do work that directly impacts people in the most desperate of circumstances. The kits are prepared in advance so that they can be sent out immediately when requested.   Sager-Brown is located in Baldwin, which is in southern Louisiana, not far from Lafayette. It is located on a campus that was originally founded by Methodists as an orphanage and school in 1868. The sight is now used as a center that serves the local community and sends supplies nationally and internationally. The work is not particularly strenuous. Mostly it is a matter of sorting and packing various kinds of kits. One of the nice things about Sager-Brown is that we sleep in real beds and eat good food prepared by the center’s kitchen staff.

The cost of the trip will be $300 per person and that covers all expenses (food, lodging, and transportation) with the exception of lunch on the road Sunday and Friday.

This is a way to do some very important, hands-on ministry that will provide much needed aid to people in great need. As United Methodists we consider ourselves to be a connectional church. This is a chance to see that connection at work and experience what it really means to work together for the transformation of the world. It is also a chance to get to know some of the other members of our church and enjoy some great fellowship. I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider being apart of this year’s team.
