Mission
Statement
of The Wesleyan Academe
To
provide excellence in Christian education is the primary mission
of The Wesleyan Academe. The Wesleyan Academe provides a warm,
loving environment for preschool and elementary aged children
to discover themselves as unique, important and contributing
members of our society.
Childrens capacity for learning
and quest for knowledge is never greater than during their primary
years. We gladly accept the challenge of introducing them to
concepts, expanding their skills, and nurturing their spirits
which will enhance future endeavors... in and out of the classroom.
The Wesleyan Academe admits all children
regardless of race, creed, or religious background.
Early
Childhood Classes
Early
Childhood classes prepare the preschool-aged child for future
success as the child experiences a teacher-led, knowledge-based
environment which combines social awareness with varied learning
experiences.
Specific classes will be filled on a
first come-first served basis. Age level is determined by the
childs age as of September 1.
Preschool
students participate in Chapel twice a week. They also attend
music classes three times weekly and Pre-K classes participate
in Spanish Classes twice a week.. The school day always includes
snacks, reading aloud, time for free play, and an age-appropriate
curriculum.
The

The
Kindergarten Program
The
Wesleyan Academe offers Kindergarten for students who are ready
to begin their elementary education. Our Kindergarten is a fast
paced adventure into the world of education. Emphasizing a strong
foundation in language, phonics, and quantitative skills, the
Kindergarten experience is enriched through the study of classical
children's literature, Spanish, music, P.E., computer classes,
class projects, and field trips.
The
Elementary Program
The
elementary program begins with Kindergarten and continues through
the fifth grade. The elementary years offer the students the opportunity
to grow at their own pace while working within a classical liberal
arts curriculum. The core curriculum is enhanced through the study
of Music, Spanish, P.E., and Computer Lab. The elementary day
begins at 8:30 a.m. and dismisses at 3:15 p.m. Student Life for
elementary students includes Chapel four days a week, periodic
field trips, small teacher-student ratio and required uniforms.
Elementary tuition is based on an annual tuition of $4,200.00/year.

members, and for siblings attending the Academe. Supply and enrollment

The
Wesleyan Academe History
The 1970's
marked a resurgence of interest in the formation and development
of quality, intentional preschool and early childhood educational
opportunities. Plymouth Park United Methodist Church has a long
history of providing such an educational environment for young
children.
During the
past decade, the vision for our school has expanded to encompass
the entire primary education. Now through grade 5, the Academe
is serving the needs of young learners throughout their primary
years and preparing them to move forward into college preparatory
work during the Middle and High School years.
