The menu this week is Italian Pizza Casserole, Salad, Bread, and Dessert. Please let me know if you are coming.
Sunday School
We are beginning a new study called “It’s A Miracle!” where we will learn about some of the miracles Jesus performed. This week Kid Kingdom will be doing an art project based on the raising of Lazarus and Club 345 will have a cooking lesson based on the feeding of the 5000. Please let me know if you can help this week or any week this month.
Chimes Choir
The Chimes Choir will play again on Palm Sunday, April 1. Rehearsals will be February 26, March 4, 18, 25 from 4-4:30pm. This is open to all 3rd-6th graders whether he/she is in the choir or not.
Big Girl/Little Girl Sleepover
The sleepover is this Friday night going into Saturday morning. Please contact Peg at peg@ppumc.org if you have not already signed up to come.
Dad and Me
Grab your favorite kids and come explore Robotics with American Robotics Academy on Friday, March 23 from 6:30-8pm. Have fun with the Lego Technic gears, axles, beams and bricks, building wacky contraptions. Add a motor, and watch your contraption go. We welcome dads, boys, girls, grandpas, uncles, special friends, and even moms. It is most appropriate for pre-k – 5th grades but everyone is welcome. Light snacks will be provided.
Chili Cook off
If you have attended the Chili Cook Off in the past then you know about the fun and fellowship that is a part of it. In the past, the Chili Cook Off has been run by the Music Dept for their benefit but it has become too much for them to handle on their own. Since we don’t want to lose this wonderful event this year adults, children, and music will come together to put it on for the benefit of the community assistance fund. Make plans now to attend or enter your chili on Sunday, March 25. Find more information in the coming weeks in the Ministries Center.
Volunteers needed this Sunday to help sell tickets in the Ministries Center. We will need people 8:45am-10am (this can be broken up into 2 shifts), 10:30-11am, and 12pm-12:30pm (or until everyone has cleared out).
Palm Sunday Lunch and Egg Hunt
Our 3rd Annual Palm Sunday lunch and Easter egg hunt is scheduled for Palm Sunday, April 1 right after the 11am service. Yes, it is the week right after the Chili Cook-Off but just think of it as two Sundays in a row you don’t have to worry about lunch!. And yes, we will absolutely, positively have a peanut butter and jelly station for any children who don’t like ham. More info will come as we get closer but I wanted you to remember to SAVE THE DATE!
VBS
Our theme this year is Babylon: Daniel’s Adventures in Captivity. We have decided to try new dates rather than losing our Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts and youth. VBS will be the week of July 23-27 from 9am-12pm. Please mark your calendars now so that you and your children can be a part of this fun time of learning.
Mother/Daughter Tea Party Thank You!
Many, many thanks to Joan La Barr and Kim Cross for providing all the food for the Mother/Daughter Tea. It was all so delicious and I just couldn’t have done it without their help.

This is an exciting event for all the girls of our church – big and little!

The Great Days of Service (GDS) is planning for 2012. The dates of service are April 13, 14 and April 20, 21. The Prayer Breakfast is April 14 starts at 7:00 am, First UMC. The Closing Celebration is April 22 at 2:00 pm, First UMC.
There are several ways that you can help: identify Irving homeowners who need help with repairs; volunteer to help with repairs or other tasks; make a donation (the March 4 Communion rail offering will be for GDS.); and pray for a successful event. GDS information and volunteer sign up sheets are in the Ministry Center.
Since 2002, GDS has helped homeowners who are seniors, disabled, or don't have the funds to repair their homes. GDS volunteers brings hope, caring and fellowship to our neighbors in need. Also the qualified homeowner's homes are repaired and their neighborhoods are improved. GDS partners with City of Irving Code Enforcement.
The Missions Committee appreciates your support and generosity for this local annual mission project. Contact Andy Schellenberg, 972-313-0058 for details, volunteer and names, addresses and phones of homeowners that need assistance.
PPUMC will begin the season of Lent with a Service of Worship and Imposition of Ashes on Ash Wednesday, February 22nd at 6:00 p.m. In honor of this Holy day, the congregation is invited to fast and join together in a break-fast meal following the service. The meal will include juice, fruits, nuts, breads, and cheese.
Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. The season is a preparation for celebrating Easter, and began as a period of fasting and preparation for baptism before eventually becoming a time for penance by all Christians. The Ash Wednesday service will focus on the theme of sin in the light of God’s redeeming love in Jesus Christ.
The PPUMC Worship team is seeking volunteers to assist with several aspects of the break-fast meal. Those wishing to help should please contact Jason Chavarría, Director of Music and Worship, at jason@ppumc.org.
What a great Sunday we had! Youth Sunday was absolutely fabulous! I have heard so many positive comments – not only about the outstanding job that everyone did, but also about the way the kids all conducted themselves in front of the congregation.
I’m always proud to be a part of the youth program at PPUMC, but I was extremely proud of all our kids on Sunday. Great job!
NO Student Outreach this week!
This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, so there will be no Student Outreach.
The Ash Wednesday Service is at 6 pm in the Sanctuary. The Break-Fast Meal is immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Please join us as we begin the season of Lent.
