It's time again for the annual P(aper), P(lastic) and H(anger) Collection. Recycle your extra clothes hangers and paper and plastic bags! Plastic bags will be given to Irving Cares for use in their food pantry. Paper bags and hangers will be used during the Missions Garage Sale in August.

Drop off your donations in the collections boxes located in the Ministries Center from June 2 to June 9.

The WIP Class is made up of adults ages 18 to late 20’s. We are selling boxes of embellished greeting cards. There are two assortments to choose from: all occasion and children’s. Each box has 30 cards and sells for $30.00. You can’t beat this bargain...that’s a $1.00 a card!! Stop by our table out in the Market Place on Sunday to see samples of the cards and to get to know our group.

**VBS Youth and Adult Orientation Wednesday!!**

Youth will have orientation at 5:30 pm just before the youth party and adults will meet at 6:30 pm. DINNER IS INCLUDED FOR ADULTS!! After orientation we will have our first VBS Work Night.

Sunday School

We continue our study of what it means to be the Body of Christ in Kid Kingdom and Club 345. This week, Kid Kingdom will be using food, and Club 345 will use science to understand our lesson. Thanks so much to Cindi for leading Sunday School Sunday.

We need volunteers to help with registration on Sunday from 9:45am-11am (can be split into two shifts) and 12 noon until closing.

The dates for VBS are July 22-26 from 9am-12noon each day. We are still looking for a few good volunteers, so contact Cori Bell to help.

Adult orientation and our first work night will be on May 22 from 6:30-8:30pm. Dinner will be provided.

Youth orientation will be May 22 from 5:30-6 before the Youth Party.

We need:

• Sturdy boxes of all shapes and sizes
• 4 Paint buckets
• Large stuffed koala
• Mega Size world map
• Plain large paper sacks (20)

American Girl Club

The American Girl Book Club will be June 13, June 27, July 18, August 1, and August 15. The first book in the series is called Caroline. The book is about a girl in the War of 1812. Cori Bell has a few books to lend if you need one. The rest of the books are: Cecile and Marie-Grace, A Smart Girl’s Guide to Manners, Friends: Making Them and Keeping Them, and Stand Up For Yourself and Others (the books are all published by the American Girl company). The meetings are held in the Youth Hall from 6:30-8pm. Registration forms are available HERE  or from Cori Bell. The ages are kindergarten -5th grade and the girls must be able to read or be read to, and they should be mature enough to take part in discussions and activities. Lego Club

We will once again have American Robotics come and lead Lego Robotics activities. Registration forms are available HERE or from Cori Bell. The meetings are scheduled for June 20, July 11, July 25, August 8, and August 22 from 6:30-8pm in the Youth Hall. Music Camp

We will have music camp on Wednesdays, June 12, 19, 26 from 6:30-8pm with a concert on June 26 at 7:30pm. The ages are Pre-K through 5th grades. Kid’s Club

The menu this week is Chicken Enchiladas, Rice and Toss Salad, with Birthday Cake. This will be the last Kid's Club until September 4.

All of the children's choirs will have an end-of-the-year party.

Our small group of fun painters is looking for more ’Students’ and a Painting Teacher to teach us every other month. We have had 2 Wonderful lessons with Susan Garden of Robert Garden Art Ent., Irving and will schedule more but desire an alternate instructor as well. Susan has started us in oils with a lovely seascape and a spring landscape with blue bonnets. Her lessons magically transform us into beginning artists! The painting circle will meet one Saturday each month; tba.

Come join our small group of ladies who enjoy a bit of baking and helping others. We meet the third Saturday morning of each month at 9:00 AM in Room 115. We mix up and bake a bread recipe in small loaf pans. Then we enjoy a snack and each other while the loaves bake in the big remodeled kitchen. When they are done we divide into groups and deliver yummy, warm bread to our homebound PPUMC members! Come help us spread smiles all around.

On Thursday, April 25, 2013, Dr. Joan La Barr received the Norvell Slater Lifetime Communicator Award presented by the Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter Religion Communicators Council at their awards luncheon for her four decades of Communications work. Congratulations!!

Bishop McKee has been in continual contact with Bishop Lowry to see how the North Texas Conference can offer the most helpful and appropriate support to the Central Texas Conference town of West, following the catastrophic explosion there. Bishop Lowry has expressed profound gratitude for the outpouring of concern and has noted that, while there will be additional opportunities "to live out our faith-based hope through generosity of spirit, time, and resources" in the long-term recovery efforts in the weeks and months ahead, the immediate need is for financial assistance.

Therefore, Bishop McKee is inviting North Texas congregations to receive a special offering for disaster relief in West. Checks should be made payable to PPUMC with "West Disaster Response" on the memo line.
