Greetings! Just a few items as summer winds downs and we look forward to fall.
Air Conditioning Update
Please be patient with the building and space as we have a new heating and air conditioning system installed this month in the Youth and Children’s wing. The old system has been tired and cranky for several years, and it will be wonderful when it’s all finished. However, it’s a huge job and we may have to endure a little inconvenience until the process is complete. Wesleyan Acadame begins on Aug 20, so those classrooms have first priority. It is the goal to have it completed by the time school starts, but if not, we’ll work around it.
Good-Bye Party
We’re going to have a good-bye party for our graduates during Sunday School on August 19 as they move away to college and/ out of the Youth Hall! Be sure to be here to tell them good-bye and good-luck!
Sunday School
Regular Sunday School classes will resume on Sunday, August 26. The new 6th graders will move into the Middle School classes and the new 9th graders will move across the room to the 9th and 10th grade classes.
Student Outreach
Student Outreach begins on Wednesday, August 29. The band is gearing up and the Leadership Team has some fun things planned for this school year.
Rangers Game
I still have 5 tickets left for the Rangers Baseball game on Wednesday, August 22. Anyone else interested? Please let me know ASAP. Those of you already signed up, get your $16 to me as soon as you can.
Suicide Sermon
I’m sure that most of you are aware of the topic of this Sunday’s sermon. Pastor Bill will be preaching about suicide. I think that all of us have been touched by suicide – one way or another – including our kids. But it is a very serious, mature topic. I would recommend you bring your youth to church and then continue the discussion with them over lunch.
Help Needed!
Lastly, Liz Garret has rotator cuff surgery several weeks ago and is still in the arm sling. She needs someone to help weed her front flower bed and do a little work in the garage. She is willing to pay 2 youth $20 an hour (gasp!) for 1-2 hours. I’ll let you guys work out the time details with Liz, but if you’re interested and want to make a little extra spending money, let me know.
