A 32-week study of The Prophets and The Letters of Paul available to adult and youth who are graduates of DISCIPLE I: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY. It calls clergy and laity to disciplined Bible study that will result in a ministering community nourished by Scripture.

A 32-week study of Old Testament Writings and the Gospel of John; 1,2,3 John; James; Jude and Revelation in the New Testament. This phase of Disciple is available to adult and youth graduates of DISCIPLE I: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY. It continues to call clergy and laity to serious, disciplined Bible study that will result in development of biblically nourished servant-leaders.
DISCIPLE Bible Study classes will begin meeting
at Plymouth Park United Methodist Church in August for a nine-month disciplined and in depth examination of both the Old and New Testament scriptures.
Based on the model of Jesus and the 12 disciples, the small groups with one or more co-leaders follow a time-tested schedule of daily personal reading and prayer, along with a weekly class that includes a video segment presented by popular Bible scholars.
Two DISCIPLE classes are now enrolling for this fall:
DISCIPLE I (Red)
6:30 p.m., Wednesdays for 34 weeks beginning August 25, 2010
Course Leader: Rev. Dana Norton
AND
DISCIPLE II (Green)
10:00 a.m., Tuesdays for 34 weeks beginning August 31, 2010
Course Leader: Dr. Bill La Barr
With the Bible as the primary text, the two-hour sessions consist of a twenty-minute video presentation along with group dialogue. A daily commitment of 30-45 minutes of personal Bible study is required of each participant. The cost is $35 and includes a workbook and resource materials. Seasonal breaks are arranged during the holidays. You may register either using the form provided in the church bulletin or click here. |
