We have teamed up with American Robotics to host our Lego Club this year. We will meet on June 14, June 28, July 12, July 26, and August 7 (note: this one only is a Tuesday) from 6-8:30pm each night in the Youth Hall. While we do not have a charge we are accepting donations to help cover the cost ($5-$10 a class would be helpful but not necessary to attend).

I do need to have RSVPs for this class so that American Robotics can be sure to have enough supplies and helpers on hand.

Children’s Ministries will once again be selling paper backpacks for the Food 4 Kids program from June 3- July 8. This is a program that provides weekend food for schoolchildren who come from food insecure homes. Last year we raised over $4800 and we are looking to beat that this year! The paper backpacks come in denominations of $1, $10, $25, and $100 so please give generously to help hungry children in our community. For more information contact Cori Bell x205 or cori@ppumc.org.

MinistrySafe

If you have gotten an e-mail from MinistrySafe it is imperative that you click on the link, watch the videos, and take the quiz in order to work with Children or Youth in this church.

This is a new program from the North Texas Conference designed to stop child abuse before it ever starts.  Background checks are only effective if an abuser has been arrested (we will, however, still be doing background checks).  This program will help you be able to identify abusive behavior in all its forms and even before it becomes physical.  If you have not gotten an e-mail please let me know and I will get one out to you.  You have to have completed this test prior to working at VBS – No Exceptions!

We are working on developing an age appropriate program for the 6th-8th graders who want to work at VBS.  

Once you complete the test an e-mail will be sent to me with the certificate showing that you have passed.

Sunday School

This week we will continue our study of Peter and Cornelius.  Kid Kingdom will be playing games to help understand spreading the Word of God and Club 345 will be exploring science.  We definitely need helpers and leaders for Sunday school so please let me know if you can be there for the Christian education of your children.  Thanks to Tiffany for leading Kid Kingdom yesterday.

Art and Music Camp – RSVPs needed

Our second art and music camp will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 20, 27 with a pot luck supper and concert on Friday, June 29.  We are working on having a real art teacher and Kirsten Woodruff will once again be leading the music. 

Along with the music and art we will have snack and recreation.  We had a great time last year and it is going to be even better this year. If your children will be attending please let me know by return e-mail so that we can be prepared.

American Girl Craft and Activity Club

Our theme this year is Babylon: Daniel’s Adventures in Captivity.

VBS will be the week of July 23-27 from 9am-12pm. Please mark your calendars now so that you and your children can be a part of this fun time of learning. We are still looking for volunteers to be Tribe Leaders.

We are collecting the following: baskets (all sizes), fringe woven blankets and rugs, boxes, and greenery (fake and real). You can bring them to my office and if you want them back be sure to label them.

Summer Mission Project

We will once again be raising money for Food 4 Kids as our summer mission project.  If you don’t remember, this is a program that provides weekend food that for children on the free lunch program who come from food insecure homes.  Last year we raised nearly $5000.00 to help feed hungry children. 

Our mission will begin on Sunday, June 3 and run through Sunday, July 8.  We will need children (with an adult supervisor) to sell our paper backpacks on Sunday mornings.  Please take a look at your schedule and find the times your child can help.

Come hear the PPUMC Children’s Choirs perform their annual spring Mini-Concert on Sunday, May 13th at 6:00 p.m. All the children’s choir will be performing songs of the season they’ve been working on all semester. A special reception of cookies and punch will follow to celebrate another great year of Children’s Choirs at PPUMC.

It is now open enrollment for the 2012-2013 school year for students ages 18 months to 5th grade at Wesleyan Academe. Located here at PPUMC, Wesleyan Academe specializes in Christian Early Childhood and Elementary classes with a low student to teacher class ratio.

The Preschool and Prekindergarten program includes a full or half day schedule. The Elementary program begins at Kindergarten and continues to the 5th grade. Spanish, P. E. and Music are offered as enrichment classes.

Bike and Trike

Pack up your bikes, trikes, skates, or skateboards and come to the Bike and Trike on Sunday, April 29 from 4pm-5pm. 

We will block off the back part of the parking lot so that our children can ride in safety while having fun with their friends. The fish fry begins at 5pm so you can ride and then eat some great food to support the Youth Ministries. 

I could really use some help getting the traffic cones out and in place. If you can help please be here about 3:30pm.

Easter Candy and Egg Donations Needed

Palm Sunday is fast approaching and we need individually wrapped candy and plastic eggs for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. There will be a box in the Ministries Center and in the education wing of the church for donations. Wednesday is the last day to donate.

Palm Sunday Lunch and Egg Hunt

Our 3rd Annual Palm Sunday lunch and Easter egg hunt is scheduled for Palm Sunday, April 1 right after the 11am service. Yes, it is the week right after the Chili Cook-Off but just think of it as two Sundays in a row you don’t have to worry about lunch!. The menu will be Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Green Beans, and dessert. The cost is $5/6 and older, $2.50/ages 2-5, and under 2 is free. And yes, we will absolutely, positively have a peanut butter and jelly station for any children who don’t like ham.

**PLEASE RSVP by Wednesday for both lunch and egg hunt or egg hunt only.**

**We will need help after P3 to get the room set up. We will need to put up all the chairs and set tables up with the brown folding chairs. We need all the help we can get!**

Chimes Choir

The Chimes Choir will play again on Palm Sunday, April 1. Rehearsals will be changing to 7-7:15 on Wednesday nights. Third graders who want to be in Chimes should join the RevElation Choir at that time.

Palm Sunday

Remember that this is a busy Sunday for our children. We will have a palm parade at P3 and 11am, the children’s choirs are singing, and the chimes choir will be playing. For the palm parades please meet at the back of Fellowship Hall before P3 and at the back of the sanctuary before 11am. I don’t have all the info for the choirs at the moment about when and where to meet but I will let you know as soon as I know.

VBS
