Sharing the Journey: Coping with Grief
Soul Lo Widows is hosting the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas Hospice six-week Grief Support Group. Sharing the Journey: Coping with Grief is open to adults in the community who have experienced the death of a loved one. Beginning April 15 through May 20, on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., we will meet in Room 108.
Today, our stressful and fast-paced culture gives little permission for us to take time for grief after the death of a loved one. A recent poll suggests that the average American believes that three months is adequate time for an individual to grieve. For most of us, however, this time frame is simply not enough. Sharing the Journey: Coping with Grief is designed to inform and help those who are bereaved through this difficult time by sharing each other’s losses and in turn, sharing each other’s strengths.
Topics include:
- Strength through Sharing
Introduction to program, sharing our stories, and common grief experiences - The Grief Process
Understanding the process and tasks of grief - A Life to Celebrate
Sharing the stories of our loved ones - Caring for our Needs
Grief adjustments and stress management - Handling Special Days
Honoring our loved ones and grieving through the holidays - From Grief to Hope
Progress review and long-range recovery
There is no fee for this service. Please call Sue Rafferty, Bereavement Coordinator, at 214-689-2922 to reserve a place.
