Plymouth Park UMC Vactation Bible School

June 20 - June 24
9:00 am - 12:00 noon

Plymouth Park UMC invites all children to get cookin' at Shake It up Café: Where Kids Carry Out God's Recipe Vacation Bible School. Explore and experience recipes for living out God's Word. The fun begins June 20 and ends June 24 from 9am-12pm.

The recipe at our café includes heaping helpings of Bible fun and special servings of creative crafts, hands-on mission work, food science, and great music. Kid's Club

The menu this week is Pork Tenderloin, English Peas, Mashed Potatoes, Rolls and Dessert. This is our next to last meal and the choirs will meet to have their end of the year events. We will have Club 345 Bible Study from 7-:745 as usual. Next week is our last dinner and we will have VBS Preview Night from 6:30-7:30 in the Activity Room.

VBS

Preview Night - Wednesday, May 11 from 6:30-7:30pm in the Activity Room. This year we are planning to work on several mission projects ranging from putting together boxes for children all over the world to a project for our own homebound members. It will be a fun and important event for our children.

Work Nights - Join us in getting prepped for VBS. The dates are May 18, 25 and June 1, 8, 15 from 6:30-8:30pm. Childcare will be provided with 24 hours notice.

• Ceramic tile squares 4-6"

• Pringle or lays chips tubes w/ lids

Computer Safety Seminar

The internet is a wonderful tool in the education of your children but it can also be a dark, dangerous place. How do you keep your kids safe while they are surfing the web? How do you stay one step ahead instead of always trying to catch up? Susan Rice, the IT expert at John Haley Elementary, will be here to equip you with the know how to keep your children safe while on the computer. It will be Thursday, May 12 at 7pm. Child care will be available upon request (with 24 hours notice).

American Girl Book Club (AGBC) and Lego Club

Get ready for another summer of fun and learning! We will once again have the American Girl Book Club and Lego Club. Each one is scheduled for 6:30pm-8pm in the Youth Hall. Ages for American Girl are 5-12 but must be able to read the books. Lego Club is incoming Kinder through outgoing 5th grade. Here are the dates:

Children’s Choir Spring Concert held May 1!

Don’t miss the annual Plymouth Park UMC Children’s Choir Spring Concert! It will be Sunday, May 1st at 6:00 p.m.

This fun, informal concert will feature all of our children’s choirs, as well as a sing-along for the congregation.

Come out and support our music program, as our children present songs they’ve been working on all season.

A cookie-and-punch reception will follow in Fellowship Hall immediately after the performance. See you there!

Young at Heart May 19 Luncheon

Join the fellowship of the Young at Heart at 10:30 am, Thursday, May 19, in the PPUMC Fellowship Hall. There will be time for crafts, games and fellowship followed by a noon meal. 2011 Good Friday

Dr. Bill La Barr, Rev. Dana Norton, and the Chancel Choir of PPUMC presented the Good Friday service.It included a performance of the powerful masterwork "Requiem" by John Rutter. The service featured the extinguishing of a candle at the end of each reading until darkness was reached, at which time the congregation was asked to depart in silence. This service was meant to represent the temporary extinguishing of the light of Christ from this world, preparing us more fully for the brilliance of Christ's resurrection.

2011 Maundy Thursday

Members of the Plymouth Park UMC Youth Ministry lead a very special worship service commemorating Jesus' Last Supper and the washing of the disciples' feet. Music, liturgy, and the message was presented by youth members of our church.

UMW offers chance to honor special women with Mother’s Day Roses

Mother’s Day Roses are now on sale. You can honor mothers or any other significant woman in your life with a red rose in honor, white rose in memory or a pink rose for breast cancer awareness. Please make your checks payable to the United Methodist Women.

In the PPUMC tradition, if you have some blooming plants in your home or yard, you are encouraged to bring a few blooms to place on the Easter Cross in the Sanctuary or in the P3 Service. Please place the flowers on the cross at your service when you arrive.

Memorial Service Notice

The Memorial Service for Floyd Hanson will be in the Sanctuary at 10:00 am on Friday, April 29, 2011.
