Here's your last chance to share your favorite recipes with your church family! We have about 400 recipes and a goal of about 600. Please, please, please submit your recipes online at www.typensave.com, by logging in using the username of "PPUMC" and password of "simmer402". Type in your name as the "contributor" for the recipes you add, then add as many as you want. Also submit copies of hand-written or typed recipes to the communication team. We reserve the right to alter, combine and narrow recipe selection as necessary. These are due Sunday, July 8th.

We will have a special Pre-buy, first to order price of $18 in the ministries center Sundays in July. After this the price will be at $25. Cookbooks will be in by the end of September.

Children’s Ministries will once again be selling paper backpacks for the Food 4 Kids program until July 8. This is a program that provides weekend food for schoolchildren who come from food insecure homes. Last year we raised over $4800 and we are looking to beat that this year! The paper backpacks come in denominations of $1, $10, $25, and $100 so please give generously to help hungry children in our community. For more information contact Cori Bell x205 or cori@ppumc.org.

The Memorial Service for Mamie Agler will be at 11:00 am, this Saturday, June 23 in the Sanctuary.

There will be a reception immediately following. Please keep her family in your prayers.

The Consecration of the Chapel will follow the 11:00 Worship Service this Sunday, June 24.

Our District Superintendent, Dr. Clara Reed will be here to assist with the service.

Rehearsals for the PPUMC youth production of Godspell kick off with a week-long Musical Camp starting Monday, June 25th.

Any youth planning on participating in this fall musical should plan to participate in these rehearsals, and all youth are invited.

Rehearsals are Monday through Wednesday from 6:00-8:30 p.m., with a swim party on Thursday at the Chavarria’s. Come join the fun!

This is the last Sunday of collection!

The Mission’s Committee will have school uniform drop off boxes in the Ministries Center from June 10 to June 24. Please help by contributing your children’s gently used outgrown school uniforms. These will be given to our partner school, Farine Elementary.

Are you Spring Cleaning, buying some new furniture, moving or just cleaning a closet? The Missions Committee will begin accepting onsite drop-off of your discarded treasures on Sunday morning, June 24. Look for the drop-off site outside the Activity Room doors on the east parking lot.

Items may also be dropped off during office hours (Mon-Thurs 8:30-4:30) beginning June 25 or on Thursday evenings between 6:00 and 8:30 p.m. Call 214-636-7326 to arrange pick-up and/or schedule drop off times. All proceeds fund global, national, regional and local missions.

The last night of our second art and music camp will be held on Wednesday 27 with a pot luck supper and concert on Friday, June 29. 

We are working on having a real art teacher and Kirsten Woodruff will once again be leading the music.  Along with the music and art we will have snack and recreation. We had a great time last year and it is going to be even better this year.

NO VBS Work night This Wednesday!!

VBS

Our theme this year is Babylon: Daniel’s Adventures in Captivity. VBS will be the week of July 23-27 from 9am-12pm. Please mark your calendars now so that you and your children can be a part of this fun time of learning. Registration form is now available here.

We are collecting the following: baskets (all sizes), fringe woven blankets and rugs, boxes, and greenery (fake and real). You can bring them to my office and if you want them back be sure to label them. We also need toilet paper rolls and cereal boxes. We DO NOT Work Night this Wednesday!! But after this there are only THREE more work nights – WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Sunday School

This week we continue learning about the Fruit of the Spirit which will take us through the end of July. Kid Kingdom will be looking at patience and Club 345 will be learning about peace. Thanks to Tiffany for leading Club 345 yesterday. TIFFANY WILL BE GONE THE NEXT THREE SUNDAYS AND I REALLY NEED VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH SUNDAY SCHOOL. If there are no volunteers then I will have to combine both classes which the little kids love and the big kids hate. Please prayerfully consider helping.

Summer Mission Project

We raised $115.00 yesterday for Food 4 Kids! That brings our grand total so far to $942.00!! Thanks to Ryan Bailey for volunteering. You did an amazing job!! Please take a look at your schedule and find the times your child can help. Our times are: 8:45am-9:30am, 10:15-11am, and 12pm-everyone is gone. The Sundays are: June 24, July 1, and July 8.

**I need child and adult volunteers to help this Sunday on the first and third shifts** I have the Lampes down for 10:15-11. Please check your schedule to see if you can help!!

Art and Music Camp

Our first art and music camp was a lot of fun even though we had some excitement with the power going off midway through. Make plans to attend this Wednesday, June 20. Because of the choir banquet the art class will be meeting in Room 102.

American Girl Craft and Activity Club

We had a great time at our first American Girl Club last Thursday and look forward to our next one. We will meet June 21, July 5, July 19, and August 2 from 6:30-8 each night in the Youth Hall. This is for incoming first graders through outgoing fifth graders. As always, I can use help on the club nights. Next week we will be reading the short story, “Kirsten and the New Girl” and making some pioneer crafts.

Lego Robotics

Our first Lego Club meeting was a blast! We used gears to make a simple fan and then made remote control cars that we raced. Make plans to attend our next club meeting on Thursday, June 28 in the Youth Hall.

MinistrySafe

If you have gotten an e-mail from MinistrySafe it is imperative that you click on the link, watch the videos, and take the quiz in order to work with Children or Youth in this church. It may have gone into your junk mail so please check there if you haven’t received it. This is a new program from the North Texas Conference designed to stop child abuse before it ever starts. Background checks are only effective if an abuser has been arrested (we will, however, still be doing background checks). This program will help you be able to identify abusive behavior in all its forms and even before it becomes physical. If you have not gotten an e-mail please let me know and I will get one out to you. You have to have completed this test prior to working at VBS – No Exceptions! We are working on developing an age appropriate program for youth younger than 17 who want to work at VBS.

Once you complete the test an e-mail will be sent to me with the certificate showing that you have passed. This is who I have as having completed the training (besides me, of course): Jeri Bailey
