Lego Robotics

We have teamed up with American Robotics to host our Lego Club this year. We will meet on June 14, June 28, July 12, July 26, and August 7 (note: this one only is a Tuesday) from 6-8:30pm each night in the Youth Hall. While we do not have a charge we are accepting donations to help cover the cost ($5-$10 a class would be helpful but not necessary to attend).

I do need to have RSVPs for this class so that American Robotics can be sure to have enough supplies and helpers on hand.

The Missions Committee has off-site storage available for any items you want to donate now to the annual garage – no need to hold on to your unwanted treasures until July.

Know someone who is moving or downsizing? Their items are welcome also.

New Plymouth Park Cookbook – Won’t you help us?

Please help us! We need recipes for the new Plymouth Park cookbook. What’s your family’s favorites?

We want to share with our families too! We only have a 60 recipes and a goal of about 600. Please, please, please submit your recipes online at

Also submit copies of hand-written or typed recipes to the communication team. We reserve the right to alter, combine and narrow recipe selection as necessary.

Art and Music Camp

Our second art and music camp will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 20, 27 with a pot luck supper and concert on Friday, June 29.

We are working on having a real art teacher and Kirsten Woodruff will once again be leading the music. Along with the music and art we will have snack and recreation. We had a great time last year and it is going to be even better this year.

Vacation Bible School Worknights

Great PPH Collection Continues Until May 27

It's time again for the annual P(aper), P(lastic) and H(anger) Collection.

Recycle your extra clothes hangers and paper and plastic bags! Plastic bags will be given to Irving Cares for use in their food pantry. Paper bags and hangers will be used during the Missions Garage Sale in August.

Drop off your donations in the collections boxes located in the Ministries Center from May 13 - May 27.

Student Outreach is over!

No more Student Outreach for the school year! We had a fun time rolling around on the grass last week. It was a great way to say good-bye to the school year, and hello summer!

Sunday School

We’re still meeting each and every Sunday morning, however, same time every week! The Nicholls family is in charge of breakfast this week.

Student Leadership

Completed application forms for the 2012-2013 Leadership Team are due this Sunday. I’ve attached an application for those that need it. You can also find a copy in the Youth Hall.

Summer Calendars

Check your mailboxes next week for the summer calendars! We’re got a busy summer of activities planning to keep everyone connected the church. In addition to the mission trips, summer camp and YAW, we are making plans for two Senior High small group Bible Study – one for the girls and another for the guys. Stay tuned for more details.

Middle School Summer Camp

We’ve got one young man going to Bridgeport to summer camp this summer. Anyone else interested? This is for kids completing grades 6-8. I will be going with him and it would be fun to have a couple more kids at camp. The week is June 18-23 and the cost is $315.

Senior High Mission Trip

If you are going on the Senior High Mission trip to Alabama next month, all paperwork plus the final payment is due now!

All adults who are going on the trip will be meeting NEXT Wednesday, May 30 at 7 pm in the Youth Hall.

Children’s Ministries Summer Mission Project: Food 4 Kids

Children’s Ministries will once again be selling paper backpacks for the Food 4 Kids program from June 3- July 8. This is a program that provides weekend food for schoolchildren who come from food insecure homes. Last year we raised over $4800 and we are looking to beat that this year! The paper backpacks come in denominations of $1, $10, $25, and $100 so please give generously to help hungry children in our community. For more information contact Cori Bell x205 or cori@ppumc.org.

Vacation Bible School needs your stuff!

Our VBS theme this year is Babylon: Daniel’s Courage in Captivity and we need your help with decorating items. We are collecting baskets (all sizes), fringe woven blankets and rugs, boxes, and greenery (fake and real). You can bring them to Cori Bell’s office before July 15. Remember to label them if you want them back.

The dates for VBS are July 23-27 from 9am-12pm each day. You can register in the Ministries Center every Sunday or you can find the registration forms here. See you there!

American Girl Craft and Activity Club

Our format will be a little different this year and we will have some fun and exciting crafts and activities related to short stories about the American Girls.

We will meet June 7, June 21, July 5, July 19, and August 2 from 6-8:30 each night in the Youth Hall. This is for incoming first graders through outgoing fifth graders.

Vacation Bible School Babylon Theme

Our Vacation Bible School is scheduled for July 23-27 from 9am-12pm each day. We will be learning about Daniel’s courage in a foreign land and relying on God in tough times.

Student Outreach

One more week! This week is our “School’s (almost) Out for the Summer” Bash on the lawn! We’re grilling hotdogs and have a climbing wall and big inflatable obstacle course coming, plus other games. We’ll start about 6 and end by 8:30 pm.

Forget about those AP tests for a couple of hours and come on out and play! Let’s celebrate the end of another great year.

Student Leadership for 2012-13 school year

Leadership applications are available in the Youth Hall. If you are interested in service on Leadership next year, please complete an application form and return to Peg before May 27.

The Nicholas family is responsible for breakfast this Sunday, May 20.

Senior High Mission Trip Pre-Trip meeting this Sunday at 12:15

This meeting is for all youth participants on the Senior High Mission Trip and their parents. We’ll meet in the Youth Hall at 12:15. Lunch will be provided.

All paperwork and final payments is due at this time. We’ll have a couple of notaries present for paperwork.

I know that several of you have let me know you have conflicts with this meeting and are unable to attend. It’s is important for everyone else to be here, especially first timers.

Children's Ministry E-blast - 5/13/12

MinistrySafe

If you have gotten an e-mail from MinistrySafe it is imperative that you click on the link, watch the videos, and take the quiz in order to work with Children or Youth in this church.

This is a new program from the North Texas Conference designed to stop child abuse before it ever starts. Background checks are only effective if an abuser has been arrested (we will, however, still be doing background checks). This program will help you be able to identify abusive behavior in all its forms and even before it becomes physical. If you have not gotten an e-mail please let me know and I will get one out to you. You have to have completed this test prior to working at VBS – No Exceptions!

We are working on developing an age appropriate program for the 6th-8th graders who want to work at VBS.

Once you complete the test an e-mail will be sent to me with the certificate showing that you have passed.

Kid’s Club

**Remember that there is no dinner, choir, or Bible study again until September 5! Have a great summer!**

Sunday School

This week we will continue our study of Peter and Cornelius. Kid Kingdom will be playing games to help understand spreading the Word of God and Club 345 will be exploring science. We definitely need helpers and leaders for Sunday school so please let me know if you can be there for the Christian education of your children. Thanks to Tiffany for leading Kid Kingdom yesterday.

Summer Mission Project

We will once again be raising money for Food 4 Kids as our summer mission project. If you don’t remember, this is a program that provides weekend food that for children on the free lunch program who come from food insecure homes. Last year we raised nearly $5000.00 to help feed hungry children.

Our mission will begin on Sunday, June 3 and run through Sunday, July 8. We will need children (with an adult supervisor) to sell our paper backpacks on Sunday mornings. Please take a look at your schedule and find the times your child can help.

There is a time for crafts, games and fellowship followed by a noon meal of hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad and dessert.
